The Lori Tierney and John Campion Memorial is a meaningful initiative by JABOR to honor the legacies of two influential figures in the organization’s history, Lori Tierney and John Campion. This fund is dedicated to enhancing the skills, knowledge, and career prospects of individuals who work behind the scenes to ensure the success of live events. It also strives to build on Lori and John’s moral compass, and continue their legacy of promoting integrity, compassion, and a sense of community. The Education Grant stands as a testament to Lori and John's unwavering commitment to the principle of 'Leaving it Better.'

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 35.

Occupation: Preferred applicants will be current or aspiring roadies, stagehands, technicians, or other professionals working in the live events industry.

Experience: While prior experience in the live events industry is preferred, the fund also supports individuals who show significant potential and a strong commitment to pursuing a career in this field.

Education: The fund supports a variety of educational pursuits, including certification programs, technical training, workshops, and academic degrees.

Financial Need: Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need.

Commitment to Giving Back: Applicants must demonstrate prior experience and a commitment to giving back to the community and making the world a better place.

Review Committee: A diverse committee of industry professionals will review applications and select recipients based on eligibility criteria, financial need, potential in the industry, commitment to giving back, and the impact of the educational opportunity on the applicant's career.

Interview: Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an online interview to discuss their goals, how the fund will help them achieve their educational and professional objectives, and their philosophy about giving back to the community.

Supporting Documents

  • Information regarding prior experience in the live events industry

  • A detailed description of the educational program or course of study

  • Proof of financial need

  • Two letters of recommendation from industry professionals or educators

  • A brief essay outlining the applicant’s aspirations in the live events industry, as well as a desire to make a difference in the world.

Award Amounts

Funding Levels: The fund will award grants ranging from $500 to $5,000, depending on the educational program and the applicant's financial need.

Payment: Funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution or program provider on behalf of the recipient.

Terms and Conditions

Use of Funds: Grants must be used solely for academic purposes, such as tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses.

Reporting: Recipients are required to provide a brief written submission on their progress, how the funds have impacted their education and career, and their engagement in cause-focused efforts within a year of receiving the grant.
